As 2016 comes to and end its always good to look back and reflect on what the past year, so here I go:
2016 was a year of change, a year where old adventures came to an end, but new equally exciting adventures started. I played my last match as a Clemson Tiger, I graduated from Clemson University, I worked for the summer in New York to fund my professional career, I turned professional, I got my world ranking back in singles and doubles, my sister got married, and I was a hitter at the ATP World Tour Finals for the top 8 players in the world.
I have based myself at Team Bath – MCTA which is a high performance academy, and through the training and coaching there I believe I have improved in all aspects of my game and coming into the new year I am hungrier than ever to keep improving. I know the results will continue to be there.
I have had a few learning experiences when going from college tennis to the professional futures circuit, the planning and traveling alone to the tournaments is something I was prepared for but once you start to do it you understand the toll it takes on you mentally and physically, however I enjoyed and embraced it. The more experienced I become as a professional the easier it will become.
Over the Christmas break I battled through a fitness training block, however that was cut short due to the flu. After a few bed ridden days I got back on the court for a short session today and I'm very happy that I'll be back in full flow tomorrow after welcoming in the new year with my family and close family friends tonight.
2017 starts off for me where 2016 ended, Turkey. I will travel there for two tournaments before returning home for a stint of 3 British futures.
I have had amazing opportunities and memories this year. My highlight was my sister’s wedding. It was a fantastic day for all of us involved, seeing everyone all together and so happy made it a special weekend for me.
